Empowering Life Skills
That Every Teen Needs
Our students overcome their fears about public speaking and improve their interpersonal communications skills. They find their voice and have more confidence to express their ideas.
The mission of Success Academy is to develop competencies in teens that promote success in high school and beyond. We supplement the education that students are receiving at home and in school with programs designed to produce confidence and competence in the areas of leadership, communications, personal finance, and entrepreneurship.
Our first meeting in 2018 will be on January 20th at the Fairfield Area Library, 1001 N. Laburnum Ave in Henrico, VA.
"Communications leads to community, that is, to understanding, intimacy and mutual valuing."
- Rollo May
"Leadership is practiced not so much in word as in attitude and in actions."
- Harold S. Geneen
We keep our class sizes small to provide ample opportunities for each student to assume a leadership role, project, or task. Each cohort votes for a president, vice-president, secretary, and sergeant at arms. Those who do not hold one of these leadership positions are able to practice leadership in their attitudes and actions through projects and other tasks.
We teach our students that money is a tool - a means to an end. Money is not the end game for our kids, but it is a mean by which they can achieve more noble goals. Therefore, we show teens how to use money effectively and efficiently to maximize results. They learn to prepare and analyze budgets and other financial reports using 21st century technology. We show them how to think creatively about their resources to achieve financial independence.
"Financial freedom is available to those who learn about it and work for it."
- Robert Kiyosaki
"You could prepare yourself for a job or you could learn to build a business and create jobs for others. It's your choice!"
- Danielle Rittman, CPA
Our education system overly emphasizes getting a job, as if it is the only path to employment. Yet, our kids need to know that they can build businesses and fully employ, not only their skills, but the skills of others.
